The 22-year-old who boarded the Tube train
bound for Edgware Road on the morning of 7 July was a man content
with life. David Foulkes, from Oldham, was enjoying his new job as
a media sales manager
for the Guardian. And he was in love with his girlfriend,
Stephanie Reid, 2.He had travelled to London that day to meet a
colleague. Mr Foulkes lived in Manchester with his parents and
sister, but was planning to move in with Ms Reid and start a
family. Ms Reid, who met him 16 months ago, told the Guardian they
had been together every day since their first date. He was a super
lad who would never do anyone any harm "He was my world," she
said. "As soon as we met we knew that was it. "We made plans and
he was never shy about being affectionate and romantic." Mr
Foulkes attended Hulme grammar school in Manchester, where he was
a keen squash player and swimmer. He stayed on for the sixth form
and then went to Oldham Business School, before becoming a trainee
manager in sales. 'In love' He joined the Guardian as territory
sales manager for the North-West, which meant he was visiting
local shops to promote the paper. His father Graham said he was
enjoying the job immensely.
A joint statement with his wife Janet said: "David was in London,
thrilled at beginning his new career.
