Her ambitions to be a midwife
were driven by her love of children.
Emily Jenkins was on her way to work, as a trainee in her favoured
profession, when she boarded the southbound
Piccadilly Line Tube which exploded. Her half-brother James Bowles
heard from her at 0845 BST when she was at King's Cross station
and about to head towards Russell Square. In a statement her
family said: "Emily was the youngest of four children of Nick and
Sarah Jenkins of Kew, Surrey. She had a love of life and a great
ability to bring out the best in people. "Emily will be remembered
for her enthusiasm and her deep passion for her family and
friends. "She touched all who met her and will be sorely missed."
Rachael Oliver-Redgate, who was an A-level classmate of Emily's at
Surbiton High School, said: "I always remember her with a cheeky
smile on her face. It's such a shame that someone so young has had
their life cut short in such a tragic way. "She was a lively and
funny girl, always surrounded by her friends. "She was also
extremely kind and caring and would have made a great midwife.
