b. Freddie Garrity, 14th November 1936, Manchester,  England
d. 20 May  2006,
Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales.

Freddie Garrity was lead singer with Freddie and the Dreamers, Freddie's trademark was his habit of leaping up and down during performances. This, combined with his almost skeletal appearance and horn-rimmed glasses, made him an eccentric figure in the UK pop scene of the early 1960s.The five-piece band had success in both Britain and the US with hits such as I'm Telling You Now and You Were Made For Me. He worked as a milkman before forming the group in 1959. They had several hit singles and appeared in a number of British musicals of the 1960s. Freddie settled in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was married three times and had four children. Freddie continued to perform until 2001 when he was diagnosed with emphysema after collapsing during a flight. He was spotted by Danny Betesh, who was his agent for more than 40 years. Mr Betesh said: "Even off stage he was a bundle of fun. He was part of a bunch of lads that really wanted to try and make it. "Freddie was a very determined man. "They were very, very popular, in the 60s - it was The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers then Freddie and the Dreamers. "They were household names." He died at North Wales after being taken ill while on holiday with his wife.
