Baratza Sette 270 Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

The media could not be loaded.After watching many different reviews and how to video’s I chose this grinder as my home coffee bar addition. To be fair, I watched a lot of video’s from Whole Latte Love on YouTube on the why’s to buy this unit. Buying a good grinder is absolutely key to making espresso at home. Consistency is vital. The reviews and awards that this grinder has received played a big part in my decision to go with this one. I already have an Acaia Lunar scale so going with the Sette 270wi was not as important. The Sette 270Wi has the scale built in and while the cost is huge, the application’s it provides are huge! Believe me I wanted the 270Wi bad.I chose the Sette 270. With this grinder it has 3 pre-set grind setting’s you can store. And accurate dosing adjustments are very very easy to do. This machine has the same burr assembly that the 270Wi has. So it does the same job. Accuracy is not quite as good with the 270, but… the dosing difference’s are very minimal if not non-existent. A lot depends on your beans etc. so I would say the dosing is extremely accurate but not always perfect.This machine is beautiful. Clean in design it’s a nice addition. It holds a lot of beans and the 58mm portafilter fits nicely in the dose holder. If I had any con’s to report… I would say it is loud. No sneaking in early in the morning for your quiet cup of espresso before the kids get up. In my case the dogs. Lol! This is NOT a cheap machine and as cost’s can sky rocket with high end grinders for espresso, this machine not only hits a nice price point but is an award winner to boot! A side note: This is not your store bought grinder. There is a lot of scaling/weighting that goes into making a 18gram double shot of espresso perfect with grind time. Also (very important) the shims that come with the machine are very vital to tuning your machine for espresso. Don’t throw them away. I installed a shim after dialing in 8 shots of coffee. The shim is vital and there for a reason. Baratza has videos on how to install. Very very easy!All in all we are very happy with our purchase. Thank you Amazon!
