This is a great product. Apparently intended to repair camping gear, such as tents, sleeping bags, or other nylon items, it is a fantastic, flexible fix for many things.I just received it and patched up the pleather covered arm of my desk chair which was starting to rip.”Pleather” (or “faux leather”) is basically vinyl painted onto canvas. Too much stretching or scratches/abrasion just peels off the vinyl coating leaving you with canvas peeking out.This tape is perfect for it, but need some care to apply.I got black and it has a nice semi-gloss finish that blends perfectly with the pleather and matches it well for feel and flex. It’s basically thin (but tough) nylon with a super strong adhesive. Nylon similar to what you’d find on an umbrella, but thin.You need to prepare everything before you put it on because you don’t get a second chance; if you put it on pleather then try to pull it off you’ll just remove the vinyl coating from the pleather. So you need to measure and cut it perfectly. Fit it to the area with the backing still on, pushing and squeezing to simulate whatever’s going to happen to the area when you’re done. The padding was sagging on my chair’s armrest (causing the tears) so I used to tape to firm it up a bit structurally. Works great.This tape sticks like nobody’s business; once it’s on – it’s ON!The tape has almost no stretch, just a tiny amount of give, so fit and placement are your main concerns.If my repair wasn’t on a rounded chair arm it would be perfect; going round the curve created a slight fold, so not as perfect as a nice, straight, flat area would be, but pretty good for an $8 fix to a $150 chair.The finished job is flexible and waterproof. The semi-gloss finish makes it almost undetectable. Seems like it will last the life of the chair.Maybe it’s the thrill of getting something done during the lockdown that’s been waiting for my attention for months, but I love this product. Expensive at 8 bucks for a 3″ x 20″ piece of tape, but worth it for my use. I guess paying a mere 8 bucks to actually get something done these days is a review inspiring event!Now, on to the filing!
